02.03.04 CPAutomation in the space

The European probe Rosetta took off this morning from the space Center of Kourou in French Guyana. On its board, electronic circuits developed by Montena EMC and CPAutomation.

Within the framework of the Rosetta project of exploration of a comet, these two companies from Fribourg developed the electronic circuits of a sensor to measure gases pressure. This sensor or sniffer named COPS (Comet Pressure Sensor) is built in the Bernese instrument Rosina (Rosetta Orbiter Spectrometer for Ion and Neutral Analysis) embedded on the European space probe. Developed by Hans Balsiger from the institute of physics of the University of Bern, this apparatus will determine the chemical composition of the atmosphere and of the ionosphere of the Churyzniv-Gerasimenko comet. The three electronic modules from Fribourg will make it possible to measure the signal of the sensor COPS, to amplify it and to transmit it to the data processor of Rosina. The space probe should meet the comet in 2014, so we can already book this date in our diary!
